Analysis of the wind flow and fire spread dynamics over a sloped–ridgeline hill

This paper presents results from a computational and laboratory investigation of wind flow fire spread over an isolated sloped-ridgeline laboratory-scale hill under various slopes with the blowing perpendicularly to ridgeline. The show two situations unexpected or unusual behaviour; one is lateral front windward face into down-ridge direction resulting strong near-surface component parallel other behaviour enlargement near ridgeline leeward in up-ridge Comparison reference rates observations highlight importance interaction between terrain-modified mechanisms which they result accelerated flows that drive indicated behaviour.
